Limitations

This test is not inclusive for all Legionella pneumophila serogroups!

Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1, is the most common serogroup isolated globally.

A negative result alone may not rule out the possibility of Legionella associated infections due to low organism load. Always correlate clinical signs and patient history with results.

A negative result alone may not rule out the possibility of Legionella associated infections due to other unknown Legionella pneumophila serogroups, and Legionella species. Always correlate clinical signs and patient history with results

Extraction of Legionella antigen in urine may vary depending on the individual patient. antigen excretion may begin as early as 3 days after onset of symptoms and persist for up to 1 year afterwards. A positive Binax NOW® Legionella urinary Antigen Test result can occur due to current or past infection and therefore is not definitive for infection without other supporting evidence.
