Leukoreduced RCP's
  1. Symptomatic Anemia
  2. Acute Blood Loss
  1. Always available (standard inventory @ MIBH)
Irradiated RCP's
  1. By recommendation from the Hematology/Oncology section for:
    1. Immunocompromised patients at risk of GVHD (Graft vs Host Disease).
    2. Bone marrow transplant recipients and congenital immunodeficiency syndrome.
    3. Leukemia and lymphoma patients.
  2. Intrauterine transfusion, premature newborns
  1. Limited supply stocked inhouse.
  2. Routine Deliveries: Tuesday and Friday before noon, Monday and Wednesday by 6PM
  3. Minimum 1 hour/Maximum 5 hour TAT if supply not available in house.
CMV Negative RCP's
  1. By recommendation from the Hematology/Oncology section for:
    1. Immunocompromised patients at risk of developing Cytomegalovirus. 
  2. Transplant Candidates
  3. Low birth weight infants
  1. Limited supply  stocked inhouse.
  2. Routine Deliveries: Tuesday and Friday before noon, Monday and Wednesday by 6PM
  3. Minimum 1 hour/Maximum 5 hour TAT if supply not available in house.
  4. Only CMV seronegative patients require CMV negative products.  Determination of patient's CMV status is recommended.
Washed Packed RCP's
  1. Heme/Onc physician or pathologist recommendation required.
  2. Symptomatic Anemia
  3. Patients with documented history of Allergic Transfusion Reactions.
  4. When component plasma contains antibodies known to be harmful to the intended recipient (e.g. patients with Anti-IgA or known to be IgA deficient)..
  1. Not routinely stocked inhouse.
  2. Available upon request from American Red Cross 
  3. Routine Deliveries: Tuesday and Friday before noon, Monday and Wednesday by 6PM
  4. Minimum 6-8 hours Emergency TAT.
  5. Not to be used as a leukoreduced product.
  6. Shelf life of component: 24 hours from time of component preparation at the American Red Cross.
