Fresh Frozen Plasma, Divided |
- Use to increase the level of
clotting factors in patients with a demonstrated coagulation
deficiency undergoing an invasive procedure or use in actively
bleeding patients as seen in :
- Liver disease
- Diseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC)
- Dilutional coagulopathy resulting from massive blood or voluem
replacement.

- Not routinely stocked inhouse.
- Volume per unit: 200-300ml.
- All requests must be approved by a
pathologist or hematologist unless:
- Patient has a known coagulation factor deficiency
- Patient's PT or PTT is greater than normal.
- Product has been ordered by a designated ICU or Cardiac
physician.

Frozen Plasma Pheresis |
- Used in situations delineated above
when deemed appropriate by Blood Bank personnel as the equivalent
of two (2) standard FFP products. Not routinely ordered by
providers.

- Limited supply stocked
inhouse.
- Routine Deliveries: Tuesdays
and Fridays before noon, Monday and Wednesday by 6PM
- Minimum 5 hours TAT.
- Volume per unit: >400ml.

Plasma Frozen Within 24 hours |
- Product Description: Normally Fresh Frozen Plasma is
processed and frozen within 8 hours of receipt. When this is
not possible, but the component can be processed within 24 hours,
it is processed and labeled accordingly.

- Always available (standard inventory @ MIBH)
- Routine Deliveries: Tuesdays and Fridays before noon,
Monday and Wednesday by 6PM
- Minimum 5 hours TAT.
- Volume per unit: 200-300ml.
