Cryoprecipitate Requirements

Standard Requirements For Transfusion

  1. Requires Pathologist approval
  2. Patient must have an ABO/Rh type on file in Blood Bank. 
  3. If the patient does not have an ABO/Rh on file, a Type and Screen must be ordered.
  4. Consent to Transfusion Form signed by patient.
  5. Order must be placed in Meditech (order code: CRYO) or on Laboratory Requisition#3 noting indications for use and number of units requested.

Notes
  1. Requires ~ 45 minutes to thaw/pool  product(s)
  2. Product expires 6 hours after pooling, or, if pooling is not needed, 24 hours after thawing.
