Causes for Rejection
Mislabeled or unlabeled specimen
Less than 50% draw for Vacutainer tubes
Serum > 48 hours refrigerated
Serum > 8 hours Room Temp
Hemolysis > 500 mg/dL HgB
Lipemia > 450 mg/dL Trig
Bilirubin > 5 mg/dL Bili
Limitations
Heterophile antibodies in human serum can react with reagent immunoglobulins interfering with in vitro immunoassays.
Supra therapeutic values of DHEA-s have not been evaluated for cross-reactivity. If DHEA-S interference is suspected order LAB529.
