Limitations

Heterophile antibodies in human serum can react with reagent immunoglobulins interfering with in vitro immunoassays.
High levels of endogenous alkaline phosphatase or rheumatoid factor may interfere.

Note: Patients taking Fulvestrant (Faslodex®) may exhibit elevated estradiol results due to assay cross-reactivity with this drug. Such patients should be tested with an LC-MS chromatographic method.
