Entire collection
At least 10 mL urine needs to be submitted to testing lab.
Storage Requirements
Keep urine refrigerated during the collection period
Transportation Needs
Deliver specimen to the laboratory at the end of collection.
If transportation is expected to exceed 1 hour, provisions must be made to keep the urine chilled
Causes for Rejection
Mislabeled or unlabeled specimen
Greater than 10% total volume lost
Inappropriate urine preservative used
> 12 hrs Room Temperature
> 24 hrs Refrigerated
