Semen – collected at least 12 weeks post surgery
Preferred Container
A special collection kit can be obtained from the Hematology laboratory at 547-3725. This kit contains the appropriate container for specimen collection and specific instructions for the patient on the proper specimen collection and handling and delivery requirements needed to ensure optimum specimen integrity.
Collection Kit contains Plastic specimen container with identification label (1) and Plastic bag (1)

Transportation Needs
Deliver to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
Specimen must be tested within 1 hour after collection in order to report motility.
When received into lab deliver immediately to Hematology
Storage Requirements
The sample needs to be delivered to the Bassett Clinic Lab as soon as possible after collection.
Causes for Rejection
Mislabeled or unlabeled specimen
> 1 hour old (provider must be contacted to change to LAB891 - Post Vas. without motility)
Insufficient quantity
Collected in anything other than the special collection kit
